Eind september 2024 bezochten we Château de Ferrand. En proefden we verschillende jaren van deze biologische Grand Cru Classé. De jonge jaren bevielen ons het best. Het is duidelijk dat dit domein met het nieuwe team stevig in de lift zit. De jongere wijnen onderscheiden zich door hun fraîcheur en drinkbaarheid. De 2019 vonden we top en kochten we als eerste in, ook magnums.

Jane Anson 93 – "Located in the commune of Saint-Hippolyte, Ferrand is an estate that has seen plenty of recent investment and is making increasingly impressive wines. This has poise and focus, managing to be both mouth-watering and creamy in texture. Fruits here are dominant red and summery - raspberry, loganberry, pinpoints of redcurrant, with white truffle and fennel alongside. Second vintage with Axel Marchal as consultant. 47hl/h yield."
Chris Kissack 92 – "I am taking another bite at this vintage from the Bich family of Château de Ferrand, as I last tasted the 2019 only a few months ago. A really fine showing on the nose here, all crystalline dark cherry, soot and tar, the fragrant fruit countered by fresher notes of green peppercorn and menthol. The palate continues in a bright and polished style, with a layer of dark and delicately sinewy fruits, supported by firm girders of grip. A dark, substantial but also fragrant style, quite robust, but set up to develop. Very well done; this property seems to be enjoying a run of good form at the moment, with a slightly fresher style which appeals."
Neal Martin 92+ – "The 2019 de Ferrand is built on energy and vibrancy. It offers perhaps a bit less immediacy than many wines in this vintage, but a good deal of potential. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, mint, tobacco, blood orange, cinnamon and cedar give the 2019 its palpable sense of energy. I would give the 2019 a few years to come together."
Georgina Hindle 92 – "Coffee bean aromas on the nose with some liquorice spice. Fully tannic on the palate but filled with plush, juicy, chewy fruits so not austere just mouth filling. Mouthwatering acidity underpins the fruit and this has a great cooling effect in the mouth almost from start to finish. A serious style, well defined and sculpted."

We bewaren onze wijnen onder de best mogelijke omstandigheden in onze opslag met meer dan 100 jaar oude wijnkelder. Van hieruit leveren wij aan restaurants en particulieren.
