De neus verraadt geconcentreerd rood fruit, en een randje hout. Komt jong en pittig over (we schrijven januari 2022). Ook: een aangename frisheid die ver weg iets aan zuivel doet denken. Wie de wijn jong drinkt: schenk 'm in grote glazen, lucht doet 'm goed. In het begin komt de wijn in de kern geconcentreerd over, en naar mate de avond vordert verzacht dat wat. Met meer jaren rijping zal de wijn zachter en verleidelijker worden. Mooi spul, fles is moeilijk weg te zetten.
Chris Kissack, Winedoctor 94/100 (2018) – "It presents a very dark character on the nose, very Cabernet in style, with scents of blackcurrant and damson, lifted with the scents of violets, but also a touch of menthol. This feels like a very smart wine, taut and vinous, the dark Cabernet fruits intertwined with notes of cigar box, tobacco and toasted oak. I see some lovely structure on the palate, the spread of flavours complicated by notes of red pepper, peony and red rose petals, while underneath there are tightly knit tannins which give it some real grip, and a freshness that runs into the finish. Very nice potential here, and an increasingly distinctive style which sits apart from Cheval Blanc."
