De wijn van Guillaume Thienpont van Vieux Château Certan, zoon van Alexandre Thienpont. Productie is heel klein: gemiddeld 4000 flessen van 2,4 ha. Deze parel ligt in het hart van Pomerol, vlakbij Le Pin. Qua stijl lijkt Guillot Clauzel op Vieux Château Certan – elegant en levendig. In haar net verschenen boek Inside Bordeaux heeft Jane Anson het over "the absolutely-do-not-miss Ch Guillot-Clauzel".

Château Guillot Clauzel 2019
Miniatuur domein temidden van de illustere buren. Rijd vanaf Libourne omhoog dan kom je na Nénin bij Guillot Clauzel terecht. Iets hoger ligt Trotanoy, en sla je linksaf dan sta je bij Le Pin. Zoiets wordt wel aangeduid als een "little gem". 2018 is het eerste jaar gemakt door Guillaume Thienpont van Vieux Château Certan, daarvoor werd de wijn gemaakt door François Despagne. Met Guillaume komt een nieuwe generatie aan het roer te staan, en zullen de wijnen qua stijl meer aan Vieux Château Certan doen denken. Grand Corbin Despagne is over het algemeen wat steviger, boerser, Vieux Château Certan is leniger en eleganter, met heel aantrekkelijk direct fruit.

It rolls out of the glass with notes of baked black plums, boysenberry preserves, and black truffles with hints of rosehip tea, crushed rocks, and tapenade. Full-bodied, it is rich and concentrated with ripe, rounded tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and wonderfully earthy."

Richly-textured, opulent, silky and vibrant, the wine is concentrated, sensuous and long, with a fresh, energized, velvety plummy finish. This is only the second vintage for Chateau Guillot Clauzel with Guillaume Thienpont at the helm. This is a future Pomerol star on the rise. The production is minscule with less than 500 cases produced, so grab it while you can. Drink from 2024-2045."

Guillaume Thienpont oversees the vineyard."

This is the second vintage made under the direction of Guillaume Thienpont. The future certainly looks bright here."
