Château Guillot Clauzel 2020

Miniatuur domein temidden van de illustere buren. Rijd vanaf Libourne omhoog dan kom je na Nénin bij Guillot Clauzel terecht. Iets hoger ligt Trotanoy, en sla je linksaf dan sta je bij Le Pin. Zoiets wordt wel aangeduid als een "little gem". 2018 is het eerste jaar gemaakt door Guillaume Thienpont van Vieux Château Certan, daarvoor werd de wijn gemaakt door François Despagne.

Jane Anson Decanter 93 – "This has a ton of perfume and charm, so much juice and Pomerol appeal. Plenty of chocolate and autumnal berry fruit a sappy if austere finish. An enjoyable, appealing and heartfelt Pomerol, really one to recommend and to track down. Third vintage with Guillaume Thienpont as consultant and viticulturist, a little less Cabernet Franc this year due to a low 30hl/ha yield."

Antonio Galloni Vinous 92-94 – "The 2020 Guillot-Clauzel is impressive. Inky and voluptuous, it’s a seriously intense, concentrated Pomerol. Blackberry jam, dried herbs, chocolate, licorice and dark spice are all kicked up a few notches. The 2020 has quite a bit of textural opulence that is the signature of a warm, dry summer. A strong oak imprint needs to fully meld into the wine. It will be interesting to see how things turn out in another 18 months or so. Guillaume Thienpont continues to do compelling work at this small estate."

Jeff Leve 95-97 – "The third vintage of Guillot Clauzel with Guillaume Thienpont in charge is clearly their best yet. The wine is deep in color with a showy aromatic of chocolate, truffle, forest leaf, fresh espresso and black plums. The wine is rich, supple, silky, full-bodied, deep and sensuous. The velvety tannins, freshness, and layers of dark red fruits on the palate stay with you, expanding in the finish. The wine blends 85% Merlot with 15% Cabernet Franc."
