Alter Ego is jong benaderbaar - trek voor de lol eens een 2020 of '21 open - maar ook met wat meer leeftijd super. Probleem is alleen dat er dan lastig aan te komen is. We waren dan ook blij en verbaasd dat onze négociant ineens een stapeltje aanbood. Oui, s'il vous plaît! De 2015 is gebotteld in augustus 2017, na te hebben gerijpt op 30% nieuw hout.

Chris Kissack, Winedoctor, mei 2018: "I find delightful dark and glossy fruit on the nose, very finely defined black cherry stone, olives and a curranty concentration. It is perfumed, fresh, and confidently composed on the palate, fresh and bright, quite tense and strict, with a very well delineated composition. This is a very serious style, confident, easily the equivalent of Pavillon Rouge, if not superior. Savoury, finely grained, balanced and energetic even through the finish and length. It is exceptional quality for a second wine, so focused and balanced. Second wines I would actually buy come along only rarely, but this is certainly one of them. Truly impressive." 95

Sweet floral notes, spice, dried cherry, mint, tobacco and crushed flowers are all laced together in this silky, mid-weight Margaux. Time in barrel has mellowed some of the exuberance the 2015 showed from barrel. Open-knit, supple and super-expressive, Alter Ego is a winner. Time in the glass brings out aromatic presence of Cabernet Sauvignon." 92

This is an exceptional second wine, one that shows the beauty of this vintage. Both Alter Ego and Palmer were bottled in August 2017 - a little later than is traditional at the property, to give the wines more time to build harmony after blending. But it probably explains why they are so closed up right now." 92

We bewaren onze wijnen onder de best mogelijke omstandigheden in onze opslag met meer dan 100 jaar oude wijnkelder. Van hieruit leveren wij aan restaurants en particulieren.
