Jane Anson Inside Bordeaux 94 – "A wall of tannins on the opening beats makes it feel a little stricter at this point than the 2014, but as it opens you get a rollout of blueberry, raspberry, redcurrant and cassis fruits. There is charm here although it needs another few years to come out of itself, and remains knitted down right now. Serious potential that has deepened and gained complexity since its initial showing En Primeur; but it still shows that the 2015 vintage was less successful than 2016 in this particular appellation. The smallest selection for the grand vin for 15 years." (juni 2021)
Neal Martin Vinous 95 – "The 2015 Montrose has a very intense bouquet of blackberry, raspberry coulis, iodine and violet scents that blossom in the glass, demonstrating more exuberance than (what transpired to be) the 2015 Meyney. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, very well judged acidity, taut and linear with satisfying freshness and poise on the finish. Maybe this just has the edge over the Meyney. Superb." (juli 2019)
Antonio Galloni Vinous 93 – "The 2015 Montrose has developed very nicely over the last two years. As it showed from barrel, the 2015 is a relatively light-bodied wine for this site. Even so, all the elements are very nicely balanced throughout. I suspect the 2015 needs at least a handful of years to become fully expressive and will age for decades, although it will never be a huge wine in the style of viscerally thrilling vintages like 2014, 2016 and so many others. The 2015 is 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc that spent 18 months in French oak, 30% new." (februari 2018)
Chris Kissack Winedoctor 94 – "The blend is 67% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc. The élevage was 18 months, using 60% new oak. Such purity on the nose here, fresh and filled with very dark fruits, black cherry, black olive, toast and soot, but despite the dark and brooding style it is cleanly defined, pure and focused. This harmony and precision also comes through very plainly on the palate, fresh and pure, seamless, dark and concentrated, but with vigorous structure, the lightly plush (for the vintage) sense of dark fruits pierced by spears of fine-grained tannins and punchy, bright acidity. A fresh, pure, bright style and yet quite seductive despite that imposing structure. Very long, the finish swirling with grained tannins. This is a strong effort in this vintage." (mei 2018)
